It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dear friend and brother David M. O’Connor after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends as he took his last breaths. Dave made his mark on the city of Sacramento as the owner of Sacramento Tattoo and Piercing, the oldest tattoo shop in Sacramento.
Dave was a piercer for over 30 years and trained many of the piercers who worked for him. He also manufactured a line of jewelry and handled all day to day running of the shop. Born in Racine Wisconsin Sept 19, 1969, Dave was an active part of the punk scene in the early 80s. He played in many bands, most notably Killer Pigs from Hell, and later Vomit, with which he continued to perform with and recorded music with until his death. After moving to Milwaukee Dave started piercing and traveled as a piercer with the first Lalapalooza tour in 1990. Landing in Sacramento, Dave and another partner opened Sacramento Tattoo in 1998. After the death of his partner, Dave took sole ownership in 2002. He continued to pierce and train other piercers and eventually began manufacturing a custom line of jewelry. Dave is survived by his loving sister Darlene O’Connor, and brother in law Mike Manske, his parents David and Kitty O’Connor, and his nephew Max and niece Sophia. Dave was preceded in death by his nephew Dominik. He is also survived by his girlfriend Jasmine Zeboski and his childhood friend, bandmate, and business partner Bill Lorenz. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor and a Go Fund Me account has been set up to handle funeral expenses.
