Rich T, owner and curator of Ohio Tattoo Museum, will visit the oldest tattoo shop in Sacramento, Sacramento Tattoo and Piercing, located at 2722 X St, Sacramento, CA 95818, to present a slideshow and short talk on his new book, Coveted: The Del Cook Collection. Rich will be sharing slides of several pieces from the collection and providing background about who Del Cook was. A limited number of books will be available for sale, as well as custom-built tattoo machines and other merchandise. The presentation will begin at 8 am Sunday, February 4, 2024. Seating is limited so arrive early for this free presentation. “It took 23 years for the story of who Del Cook was to unfold,” states Rich T. “I am really proud of this project. Del Cook was a collector of tattoo antiquities way before anyone cared about tattoo history. He was way ahead of his time.” Rich T refers to himself as an accidental collector. "I did not set out to have a collection of tattoo-related antiquities, let alone a museum dedicated to those antiquities. The Del Cook collection, simply put, gave birth to the Ohio Tattoo Museum.” Pieces from the Del Cook collection have been part of exhibits at the New York Historical Society, The Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco, COSI: Center of Science and Industry in Columbus, Ohio, The Tattoo Historical Society, and multiple tattoo conventions. When asked how Rich T chose Sacramento Tattoo and Piercing for the talk, he stated, "Bill Lorenz, the owner, taught me to tattoo more than thirty years ago. He gave me my livelihood, without which I probably never would have been in a position to write this book or run my museum." Rich T also owns and operates Bicknee Tattoo Supply. The casual talk and slideshow will last 45 minutes, with time for questions afterward. Rich will be available to sign books, as well as sell some of his custom tattoo machines. While this is a free event, cash, Venmo and paypal will be accepted for books and machines.
